PADEV is a registered fiduciary, accredited and recognized Liberian organization founded almost a decade ago to contribute to national development. Our work broadly focuses on community-based natural resource management (CBNRM).

Where are we located, where do we work and what do we do?

  • PADEV is situated in Sophie Community, Congo Town, Montserrado, Liberia. We operate regional offices on a need basis.
  • PADEV has footprints in over 100 forest-dependent communities across rural Liberia, where it has implemented and continues to carry out integrative and gender-responsive capacity building projects in forest governance, sustainable livelihoods, strategic communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Our work engenders social change and addresses poverty and inequality in underserved communities in Liberia's northwest and southeastern priority landscapes.
  • In the last 10 years, our organization has administered over US$4m in grants and other funds.

Leadership

PADEV is widely recognized among national Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for its commanding leadership and demonstrated collaborative management expertise within the Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) sector.

Our leadership quality is proven by our track record of managing high-stakes partnerships and sector-wide initiatives:

  • High-Impact Event Leadership: In 2023, PADEV led a consortium of four national NGOs — including The Nature Compact (TNC), Eddie Theatre Production (ETP), and Greenlife West Africa (GWA) — to organize the first-ever World Bank-funded Liberia Forest Forum, which achieved resounding success.
  • Consortium Program Management: In 2024, PADEV spearheaded a two-organization consortium alongside the Rural Integrated Center for Community Empowerment (RICCE) to successfully implement the first phase of the UNDP-supported Community-Based Forestry and Protected Area Management (CBFM) project.
  • Ongoing Sector Governance: PADEV currently hosts and facilitates the Secretariat of the Community Forestry Working Group (CFWG), driving continuous collaboration and policy advocacy across the sector.
